A Travel Blogger's Sincere Share: Why Harbin Ice and Snow World Is a Must-Visit Winter Tourism Destination

Opening Chat

Hi everyone, I'm Xiao Bing, your ice and snow travel expert! Recently my inbox has been flooded by you lovely followers, with many friends asking: "Xiao Bing, is Harbin Ice and Snow World really worth visiting? This is my big Spring Festival budget!" As a seasoned travel blogger who has explored ice and snow destinations around the world, I can tell you very responsibly: Ice and Snow World is absolutely a place you won't regret visiting, no matter how much you spend! Don't believe me? Then follow me to experience this fairy-tale ice and snow kingdom!

Objective Data

Let's look at the latest data, I promise these numbers will blow your mind! In the 2023-2024 winter season, ice and snow tourism across the country exceeded 4.3 million visits. Harbin alone received over 10.09 million tourists during the Spring Festival period. What does this mean? It's equivalent to three times Beijing's permanent population all flocking to Harbin! Even more impressive, Harbin Ice and Snow World's single-day visitor count exceeded 100,000, completely shattering historical records!

I have to say, this wave of "Southerners enjoying ice and snow" is absolutely crazy! I met a girl from Guangdong in the park, wearing a thick down jacket and fuzzy earmuffs, holding a steaming cup of milk tea, with excitement sparkling in her eyes. She said this was her first time seeing such a spectacular ice and snow world - it felt like a dream!

Unique Charm

Honestly, I've been to many famous ice parks around the world, like Finland's polar town where you can see romantic auroras, and Sapporo Snow Festival in Japan where I experienced Japanese pursuit of perfection in details. But when I stood in Harbin Ice and Snow World, I was truly amazed! There are not only 58 exquisitely beautiful ice and snow landscapes but also over 20 incredibly fun ice and snow entertainment activities!

Imagine, in a vast park area, buildings made of crystal-clear ice blocks everywhere - magnificent European castles, traditional Chinese palaces, and futuristic modern architecture. Each building is a masterpiece created by artists' painstaking efforts. Under the colorful LED lights, the entire park becomes a dreamlike city straight out of a fairy tale!

I remember once standing in front of a pure ice church, where sunlight refracted through the ice blocks creating rainbow-colored light. At that moment, I felt like I was in a crystal palace. What's more amazing is that the ice sculptures are completely new creations every year, with artists always coming up with new ideas to amaze visitors. Last year's theme was "Ice Silk Road," this year it's "Frozen Fantasy," bringing visitors new visual experiences each year.

Personal Experience

Last December, I once again set foot in this ice and snow paradise that I can't stop thinking about. After multiple explorations, I've concluded that the best time to visit is 4 PM. Why this time? Because you can see both the crystal-clear beauty of ice sculptures in sunlight and enjoy the colorful light show after dark.

The park has an incredible number of entertainment options! The most thrilling has to be ice cycling! When I first saw this activity, I was confused: can bicycles really be ridden on ice? Won't you fall? But under staff guidance, I gathered my courage to try, and surprisingly, it was quite fun! The special anti-slip studs on the tires make the whole riding experience both exciting and safe.

Then there's the ice slide, absolutely my favorite! Looking down from the top can be a bit nerve-wracking, but once you start sliding, the thrill is addictive! Especially at night, when the colored lights along the slide light up, it feels like zooming through the Milky Way! I remember one time I went five or six times in a row and only stopped because it was too cold.

The park has many great photo spots. Like the "Ice and Snow Corridor" with intricately carved ice sculptures on both sides - walking through feels magical. The "Ice and Snow Castle" is incredibly beautiful when lit up at night - any photo you take there will blow up your social media! My favorite is the "Ice and Snow Maze" - though a bit tricky to navigate, playing hide and seek in there is super fun.
