Discovering New Rural Tourism in Western Sichuan: A 90s Generation's 5-Day-4-Night Deep Experience at a Paddy Field Café

Origin

After spending too long in Chengdu's concrete jungle, surrounded daily by office building glass walls and endless traffic noise, my heart always longed to escape. One night, while browsing Xiaohongshu in bed, a photo caught my eye: in the middle of golden rice paddies stood a transparent wooden glass house. Sunlight streamed through the glass onto wooden floors, where visitors sat leisurely by floor-to-ceiling windows, holding steaming cups of coffee, with rolling mountains and swaying rice fields in the distance.

This was no traditional farmstay! It was a perfect blend of Japan's Karuizawa and European pastoral scenery. Looking carefully at the location, I discovered this "Paddy Field Café" was near Ya'an. Looking at the beautiful scenes in the photos, my heart began to race involuntarily. At that moment, I decided to personally visit this paradise hidden in Western Sichuan's mountains.

Pre-trip Preparation

As an experienced traveler, I knew that rural tourism today isn't just about staying at a farmhouse for a night and eating free-range chicken. Modern rural tourism projects focus on cultural experiences, creative design, and deep interaction. 2023 data shows that national rural tourism revenue exceeded 1.2 trillion yuan, with new cultural tourism integration projects accounting for over 40%, clearly indicating rural tourism has entered a new era.

I spent an entire weekend planning. Besides searching for travel logs and reviews on major social platforms, I specifically contacted several friends who had visited for advice. They unanimously said that this place's most distinctive feature was how perfectly it combined modern creative culture with traditional farming culture.

To fully experience everything here, I specifically took 5 days off. While packing, besides regular clothes, I specially brought my camera, sketchbook, and a pair of work boots suitable for farming. The journey from Chengdu takes about two and a half hours, and I booked the park's guesthouse in advance on Meituan so I could enjoy the first rays of morning sunlight streaming across the rice fields.
